Sepulveda-pass-construction-graphicBeginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, people driving east on Wilshire Boulevard will not be able to get on the I-405 northbound ramp because of construction.

The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day for 90 days with an estimated re-opening date of Monday, Nov. 25 at 1 a.m.

The primary detour route recommended by Metro is to take Sepulveda Boulevard south to Santa Monica Boulevard and head west and then get on the northbound 405.

An alternate route would be to take Sepulveda Boulevard south to Pico Boulevard and then head west. Then make a right onto Cotner Avenue and enter the northbound 405.

At night, Metro recommends taking Federal Avenue or Westwood Boulevard to Santa Monica Boulevard to the northbound on-ramp.

The new ramp, which will be 3,129 feet in length compared to the current 824-foot ramp, will feature 280 percent more capacity to store vehicles and segregate traffic from eastbound Wilshire. This will be the last demolition of an I-405/Wilshire connecting ramp.

For more detours related to the entire 405 improvement project or for additional information, please visit Metro’s information site.
