Rachael Jablo has had chronic migraines since 2008. If she doesn't take medication, the pain is so severe that she cannot speak. Unfortunately, a side effect of the medication is that she forgets words. To document her experience and help her resurrect her vocabulary, Jablo, a professional photographer,shot color photos of everyday objects and situations and gave them one-word titles referring to the word the picture represented. To show how
art can help people understand illness, some of the pictures are on display in a new exhibit in the Learning Resource Center in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
